How time flies, when you're having the fun of your life! So the saying goes. The year 1999 May 29th to be precise; was the birth of Nigeria's Political Sojourn, after a brief Democratic spell, that was truncated by the ambitious military interference, on the 31st of December 1983. 16 turbulent years was what it took us, as a nation to be aligned back with the realities of an electoral franchise of the "Right To Vote And Be Voted For".

Lagos State was, presumably the Centre Of Excellence designed, to become a trail blazer and  a model for a new and modern Democratic Institution. 19 years down the path of a Democratic Establishment in Lagos State,we (Lagosians) have being bedeviled by an unprecedented dynasty of vulture.

A nostalgic journey into the past and path that got the people of Lagos into the claws of the vulture and ,while we are still held captives by the brigandage of the king of Bouillon.

Alliance For Democracy was the party formed back in 1998 September 9th to be precise, under the leadership of Late Abraham Adesanya, Ayo Adebanjo,Ganiu Dawodu,Adebisi Akande. Joseph Avazi was the Chairman of the party. While,Hon Akin Fasogbon  was the secretary general of the party. Their mantra was, " Progressive". The then Afenifere, thats was formed as a socio-cultural organization for the Yoruba people of Nigeria ,with Later Chief Abraham Adesanya as its leader and Late Chief Bola Ige as deputy leader, came to a general concensus,to use the Alliance For Democracy to drive it's Afenifere agenda. And the AD party adopted the Afenifere manifesto.

During the governorship primaries that was held in Lagos. Three candidates were the strong contender,Late Funsho Williams,Late Wahab Dosumu and Bola Ahamed Tinubu. By all standard and preference, Late Funsho Williams would have being the favorite to emerged. One of the founding fathers of the party then,Ganiu Dawodu, was at loggerheads with the other chieftains of the party. His point was simple, don't allow Bola Tinubu to fly the party's flag for the governorship position. But,unfortunately, all his resistance fell into deaf ears.Hence, the birth of  the Trojan of Lagos politics, (Bola Tinubu) emerged. He (Tinubu) knew deep down  in his heart of heart, the reasons why he was allowed to run for the office of the governor of Lagos, despite having a refined technocrats in the person of Late Funsho Williams. He was to do the Afenifere's bidding for there own personal aggrandizement.

Being who he is; he decided to cut there influence not only to size, but  into shred and confine them in the dungeon of political obscurity. He,formed his own political dynasty and recruited his own allies into all the various departments of the State Secretariat and Local government across Lagos. By the time he was going for his second tenure most of the founding father's where rendered redundant, and irrelevant within the party structure and Tinubu became there albatross and nightmare. By the end of his second tenure in office,he was way too powerful to be muscled out of the party and he extended his influence to other States within the South West geographical territory. Several had tried to clash with him but, they ended up being devoured by the vulture in Bouillon. The latest in line,is the current governor of Lagos State Akwunmi Ambode, who happens to be Tinubu's protege and has benefited immensely from his political largess. On his ascending the position of the chief executive of the Lagos State,he (Ambode) had one thing in mind. That is, to dislodge Tinubu's allies and install his own machinery. But, unfortunately, he was less intelligent about it,to the extent that, he had to sacrifice is ambition on the alter of greed. He forget that, to out smart the Don and become a Self Made Man,you need to carry out some major hit in a clandestine manner, while you remain loyal on the surface till you eventually, grasp how to finally demolish his last political wall in order for you to pave the path for your own political engine to take the rightful place.

The big question, lies in Ambode himself. What will be his faith,if he eventually vacates the sit of the Executive Governor Of Lagos State? Can he appease, his boss and walk his way back to the top or will he become irrelevant and forgotten in the dustbin of perpetual political oblivion?
One thing,I believe is that, he will never go down without giving a fight. The vulture in Bouillon must always understand this; For every empire that have risen in history, there day of reckoning is always closer from there day of enthronement.
It's only a matter of time, for the jungle to be mature, because Only the strong survive and only the wise excel. Till then we keep our fingers cross!

                    Your'sTruly,
OLAYINKA OGUNMUYIWA!!!
