TONY AKPOSHERI is an actor I had known and admired years ago. I love his role in the New Masquerade and the Village Head Master on NTA. I also love the advert he did for BACO SUPER SACK. I had always wanted to meet him and yes I did. I had worked with him as an actor, producer and director. He is a man to be with. As a Legend in Nollywood, he deserve to be called Hero of Nollywood. He is a member and one of the teachers of Genesis Nollywood. We met today in Abuja and I felt it is good for my wonderful readers and actors to know more about him. Enjoy our discussion.
THEO: Sir, can you tell us your full names?
AKPOSHERI: Tony Akposheri
THEO: What do you do currently?
AKPOSHERI: Film making. I am an actor in New Masquerade, Dogood and Two Sides Of The Coin etc.
THEO: Is new masquerade still on air?
AKPOSHERI: Coming back
THEO: What role did you played in new masquerade?AKPOSHERI: Same role. Zacky
THEO: Who is the producer and director of masquerade?
AKPOSHERI: Producer is Chika Okpala while the Director is Chris Obi-Rapu
THEO: Do you have any regret acting in new masquerade?
AKPOSHERI: No
THEO: When did you start acting?
AKPOSHERI: 1975
THEO: Wow. Were you married then?
AKPOSHERI: No
THEO: What is the brief story line of the new masquerade?
AKPOSHERI: Masquerading the ills of the society and the government.
THEO: What role did you played in Dogood?
AKPOSHERI: Uncle William, Dogood uncle.
THEO: What about the role in the Two Sides Of The Coin?
THEO: Which are most challenging? New Masquerade, Dogood or Two Sides Of The Coin?
AKPOSHERI: Two sides of a coin.
THEO: Why do you say Two Sides Of The Coin is most challenging?
AKPOSHERI: Playing a driver that wants to boss his boss someday. Mixed, both comic and drama
THEO: List other movies and TV soap operas you have done.
AKPOSHERI: Movies are Prodigal Brother, Igodo, Return From Europe, A Night To Remember, Agege Bread, Cold Pure Water, Jacob's Mansion, Ekeoma The Village Princess, World Foot Ball Match, How Market, Notorious Virgin, Bondage, Toronto, Back to Sender, Forward Ever etc. TV Soaps Operas are, Village Headmaster, Ripples, Doctors Quaters, Circle Of Interest, Fuji House of Commotion, Hotel Majestic, Hills and Valleys, Every Day People etc.
THEO: How did you get into acting?
AKPOSHERI: Xmas concert when I was young, after watching cow boy’s films at tender age. My hero then was John Waye
THEO: How was Nollywood then at that younger age?
AKPOSHERI: No Nollywood. We had different sect in the entertainment industry. Stage, School Drama, Radio and Television
THEO: If you should compare the time before Nollywood and now which is better?AKPOSHERI: There is much quality and professionalism in acting and discipline compare to now. There is love for one another. But there was no money
THEO: Wow, that's interesting. Do you have any bad press?
AKPOSHERI: Who doesn't
THEO: What was it and how did it affect you?
AKPOSHERI: Once I went to a club with my wife and it was published that Zacky and his girlfriend were clubbing. Funny enough it was the picture of my wife and I that was taken together.
THEO: Did your wife felt bad about it?
AKPOSHERI: No
THEO: How did you meet your wife?
AKPOSHERI: On set of New Masquerade
THEO: So she is an actress?
AKPOSHERI: Then. Yes
THEO: Does she still act?
AKPOSHERI: sometimes
THEO: How many children do you have?AKPOSHERI: Four girls
THEO: Wow. Don't you have fear of not having a male child as an African mostly a Nigerian man?
AKPOSHERI: No. I am happy with God Blessings. So many people are looking for child even if it is one girl.
THEO: What's your state of origin and briefly tell us about your tribe?
AKPOSHERI: Delta state. Urhobo tribe. Urhobo well cultured and happy people with good varieties of food. We are all entertainers
THEO: Will you like to disclose your age to your vi ewers and fans?
AKPOSHERI: Today is my Birthday (25th January, 2016. I am 58 years old today.

AKPOSHERI: Lies, cheating, ungrateful ness. Disrespect to God

AKPOSHERI: Godliness, Honesty, Helpers, Positive Smartness, Hardworking, Discipline, Happiness and Beautiful things.
